Life Drawing can help with body confidence

Updated: Feb 24, 2019

I just found a very interesting article on the Telegraph today which actually inspired this blog post. The article "Life drawing can help teens overcome social media body confidence issues, says former Royal Society president," really caught my eye; Not only because we do Life Drawing events at Bubbly and Art but more importantly, it was something that I actually haven't personally thought about.

It is urged for people to try Life drawing to encourage people to challenge the notion of the "ideal body". With so many media outlets telling us what we should and shouldn't look like, it is actually refreshing to see that through Life Drawing, people come to the realisation that everyone is different and that is perfectly okay.

"Life drawing is an opportunity to study the human form, folds, blemishes and all - not wondering if the image you’re obsessing over has been photo-shopped"

Simon Whittle, president of the Hesketh Hubbard Art Society

I know Life Drawing isn't for everyone but I believe this is a good enough reason to at least try a class. I urge everyone to read the article. It's so insightful and who knows? You might be swayed to attend one of our Life Drawing classes!
